Camera Operation / Broadcasting

Hello
My name is Spencer Frattare. I am a graduate of Waynesburg University (Waynesburg, PA) with a degree in Sports Media with a focus on Announcing. I was born in Pittsburgh, PA and attended Padua Franciscan High School in Ohio.
My Story
From a young age, I enjoyed sports but I wasn't always the best athlete. I realized early on that my love for sports extended to watching and discussing the game more than playing. I grew up watching and listening to my grandfather, former Pittsburgh Pirates Announcer Lanny Frattare, live out his boyhood dream and realized that there was a world of sports beyond the field. When I decided to follow in his footsteps, Waynesburg University was the obvious choice and I had the opportunity to have him as a professor, advisor and mentor. Beyond the sports broadcasting and public speaking instruction, he impressed upon me the importance of preparation and research. In January of 2023, I was honored to have the opportunity to call the action with him for a WPIAL boy's high school basketball game.

Waynesburg provided real-world experience beyond the classroom. I have been fortunate enough to spend a lot of time both in front of and behind the microphone, on campus through WCYJ-FM, WUSN, and WCTV, and off-campus working with Pikewood Sports, the Washington Wild Things, and the Akron Rubber Ducks.
Since October of 2024, I have been working for the Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Monsters as a Video Crew Member supporting TV and in-game production to include camera operation and control room assistance. In 2025, I began working with the Cleveland Guardians as an In-House Camera Operator. I continue to work behind the microphone as a Public Address Announcer for the Warrensville Heights Football Team and serve as the Backup Announcer for Baldwin Wallace University Sports.

I look forward to continuing my story with your organization.
